Holy Orders
Holy Orders is the Sacrament through which bishops, priests, and deacons are consecrated to serve the People of God. Through this Sacrament, the ministry entrusted by Christ to the Apostles continues in the Church.
Those ordained are called to shepherd the flock with love, not power, following Jesus’ example: “Whoever would be great among you must be your servant” (Mt 20:26). Bishops and priests are called to love the Church “as Christ loves the Church” (Eph 5:25), dedicating their lives to the care of their communities.
Pope Francis reminds us that this calling must be nurtured through prayer, Scripture, daily Mass, and regular Confession. Holy Orders is a gift from God, and those who feel called are encouraged to pray for clarity and courage in answering Him.
