Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus is a group of active Catholic men who have bonded together to help one another become better Catholics and better men within our families and our parish. The Knights of Columbus primary motivation is “Charity,” and we, Knights of Columbus St. Gerard Council do our best to live up to that ideal.
The Knights of Columbus in Manitoba are involved with projects such as Koats for Kids in Winter and Wheelchairs for the Elderly and Impaired.
On a more “personal” direction, the Knights of Columbus St. Gerard Council, are involved of many charities, including needs of the children at St. Gerard School, more specifically, sport equipment (balls, nets, etc) as needed/requested).
When called for assistance, we help in the Confirmation Ceremonies for children who have met the requirements to receive this sacrament. As needed or requested, we provide rosaries for these children to help in their Spirituality.
In the past, we have held Pancake Breakfasts as our way of celebrating with children receiving the Holy Eucharist for the first time. Even as it is a fundraiser for the Knights of Columbus charities, the Pancake Breakfast provides the families of children receiving their First Communion, an affordable breakfast celebration. Todate, we continue the Pancake Breakfasts for our parishioners who enjoy coming together to enjoy the hearty breakfast that the Knights of Columbus provides.
In Spring, the Knights of Columbus St. Gerard Coucil, hold a Hotdog Sale, right in front of our Parish. This is another way we help promote comraderie among our parishioners and raise funds for our charity projects.
